In the UAE, under the regulations enforced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) parking fines are a common occurrence,. But what if your fine was issued due to human error or a technical glitch? While the UAE Traffic Law and RTA regulations do not explicitly waive parking fines for human error, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) offers an appeal process for motorists who believe their fines were unjust.
The RTA provides a platform where you can challenge fines due to payment system issues, technical errors with meters, or other unforeseen circumstances. In these cases, you have a 30-day window to dispute it. Each case is reviewed individually, and fines may be cancelled if a valid error is proven.
Step-by-Step Guide to Filling a Parking Fine Dispute
Log into the RTA Website- In the dashboard you will see a list of boxes where you can click the pop-up Parking Services.
Parking services- In parking services you can chose the option Pay Public Parking Fines.
Search for your Fine- you can get the details of your fine either by the traffic file number or Fine number or by entering the plate number. Keep in mind that if you search by plate number, the dispute option may not appear.
Dispute Submission- Once you have located your fine you will find a box to click and submit the dispute. Here you can attach the necessary documents such as vehicle license and supporting evidence to bring to the attention that the fine was issued due to unforeseeable situations.
Receive Conformation- after submission, you will receive a conformation email and SMS with your dispute reference number.
Track Your Dispute- You can return to the same window to check the status of your dispute. The RTA will respond within 10 working days with their decision.
Errors can occur, and the RTA recognizes this. With the right evidence and timely action, you have a strong chance of having your parking fine waived. Be sure to follow the process carefully and track your dispute status for a smooth resolution.
