The UAE continues to strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation, tourism, and investment through a series of forward-looking visa reforms. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has introduced four new visit visa categories and amendments to existing visa regulations, reflecting the nation’s evolving approach to migration and mobility.

New Visa Categories
  1. Artificial Intelligence Specialist Entry Visa
A single or multiple-entry visa granted to AI professionals based on a letter from a UAE-based technology establishment. It supports innovators participating in conferences, collaborations, or short-term projects within the UAE’s expanding tech ecosystem.
  2. Entertainment Entry Visa
Designed for foreign performers and artists visiting the UAE temporarily for entertainment purposes, furthering the country’s ambition to become a regional and global cultural hub.
  3. Events Visit Visa
A short-term visa allowing foreigners to attend events such as exhibitions, conferences, festivals, and sports or educational programs. Sponsorship by a UAE-based public or private entity is required, supported by a letter detailing the event and duration.
  4. Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa
Issued for tourism through cruise ships and pleasure boats. It requires a travel itinerary and a licensed tourism operator as the guarantor.
Amendments to Existing Visa Regulations

Visiting Friends or Relatives
Updated income requirements now depend on the relationship: AED 15,000 per month for friends, AED 4,000 for first-degree relatives, and AED 8,000 for second- or third-degree relatives.

Business Opportunity Exploration Visa
Applicants must demonstrate sufficient funds or provide evidence of prior professional or business engagement abroad in the same field.

Truck Drivers Visa
Truck drivers sponsored by shipping or cargo companies may now obtain single- or multiple-entry visas upon meeting fee, guarantee, and insurance requirements.

Humanitarian Cases
Humanitarian visas remain valid for one year and may be renewed or cancelled by the Authority’s Chairman. These visas do not require sponsorship and apply to individuals from countries affected by war, disasters, or instability.

Foreign Widows or Divorced Women
Foreign widows or divorcees of UAE nationals may be granted residency within six months of the spouse’s death or divorce. If children are involved, the custodial mother may also sponsor them, subject to approval by the competent committee in case of custody disputes.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). Sponsors or hosts vary depending on the visa type:

  1. Licensed technology company (AI specialists)
  2. Event or entertainment organiser (performers and attendees)
  3. Licensed tourism operator (cruise and leisure visitors)
Conclusion

The UAE’s latest visa reforms mark a significant step toward a more flexible, inclusive, and innovation-driven migration system. By broadening access for professionals, entrepreneurs, and visitors, the country reaffirms its commitment to fostering global talent and enhancing cross-border collaboration.
